A Few Practical Answers
If you have any other questions not already covered on this site, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
What if I have no idea what I want?
That’s a perfectly good place to start. Tell us about your story, its genre and the readers you want to reach. Share a synopsis and any covers you like or dislike. We’ll turn that into a direction for you to consider.
Can you design both ebook and print covers?
Yes. Front covers the digital front only. Wrap adds one paperback wrap. Complete adds a hardback cover and square audiobook artwork as well. Print files depend on your chosen printer, format and final specifications.
Will the files work with Amazon KDP?
With Wrap or Complete, yes. Give us your final page count and book size, and we’ll take care of the cover setup. We confirm your paper, ink and binding choices, obtain the right KDP template, and prepare the dimensions, spine, bleed and barcode space. We also guide you through the cover upload and preview, and correct technical issues with our supplied cover at the agreed specifications. KDP carries out its own checks before publication. Tell us if you’re using another printer.
How do revisions work?
Front includes one round of changes, Wrap includes two, and Complete includes three. For each round, review your chosen cover and send your requested changes together in one message. We make those changes and return the revised cover. Where included, further rounds let you review the revised version and request additional adjustments. Your three initial concepts are included. Once you choose one, the revision rounds refine that design. Additional concepts beyond those three, a later change of direction or brief, and changes after final approval are quoted separately before work proceeds.
What about image and font licences?
We confirm image and font licence terms and any additional fees before payment. Selected photography from Tony Marturano’s collection carries a one-off licence fee. Exclusive use is separately quoted where available. Third-party licence terms still apply; bespoke illustration and editable source files are included only if stated in your quote.
How long will it take?
For our standard packages, you receive three initial cover concepts within 48 hours (excluding weekends) of payment and receipt of your complete brief. Choose one and we refine it through the revision rounds included in your package. We agree the final delivery date with you; it depends on your feedback and, for print, your final page count, book size, back-cover copy and print choices. Bespoke work has an individually agreed schedule.
Can you improve an existing cover?
Often, yes. Send a small preview and explain what feels wrong. We’ll first check what can sensibly be reused and whether you have the necessary rights and source files. A refresh or reconstruction is quoted to match the work involved.
Will a new cover guarantee sales?
No. A cover should help the right readers recognise the kind of book you’ve written, but sales also depend on the book itself, its description, pricing, visibility and many other factors.
